Packwood cottage is in prime location, just outside Laugharne. Laugharne is a beautiful place, steeped in history. Laugharne Castle is an amazing 12th century Norman Castle. It has fantastic views over looking the old part of Laugharne and its own period gardens. Laugharne is a small town/village with pubs, restaurants. It has a Silver Smith Shop. A Pottery shop, Post Office, a Chemist, Hair Dresser and its own ‘Laugharne Bakery’.
Dylan Thomas was fascinated by Laugharne. His famous ‘under milk wood’ was written here in his ‘boat shed’ and the house that he lived in with his wife and children is open all year, for an interesting look into the poets life.
As Laugharne is on the Taf Estuary, there are brilliant walks all around and breath taking views over the Estuary. It is truly a magical place!
The National Trust has lots of period houses and gardens in the area, which make for great days out. Llanerchaeron is one of these fascinating places. Well worth a visit. Aberglasney is a garden and house lost in time. The Botanic Gardens of Wales is only a couple of miles away. Brilliant place.
